PERSONAL MINISTRIES

Equipping members to share their faith and serve the wider community.

Mission and Purpose

The Personal Ministries Department at SDA Church, Erdington, exists to fulfil the mission of sharing the everlasting gospel of God’s love, as demonstrated through the life, death, resurrection, and ministry of Jesus Christ. Its purpose is to invite individuals to accept Jesus as their personal Saviour, nurture them in their faith, and prepare them for His second coming. This mission is accomplished by working closely with church members and extending outreach to the wider community, helping people grow as disciples of Christ.

Key Roles and Functions
The Personal Ministries Department coordinates and oversees the activities of several vital ministries within
Erdington SDA Church, including:

  • Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA): Supporting global humanitarian efforts and local charity initiatives.
  • Community Services: Engaging with the community to meet physical and spiritual needs.
  • Family Ministries: Strengthening family units through Bible-based programs and support.
  • Men’s Ministry: Encouraging men in their spiritual growth and service to others.
  • Women’s Ministry: Empowering women to serve the church and community while deepening their faith.
  • Children’s Ministry: Fostering spiritual development and education for children.
  • Health Ministry: Promoting health and wellness through education and practical programs.
  • Youth Ministry: Engaging young people to be active in their faith and church life.

Through these ministries, the Personal Ministries Department aims to meet the needs of both church members and the community, embodying Christ’s love in practical and spiritual ways.

Global Initiatives and Evangelism

The Personal Ministries Department is fully aligned with the "I Will Go" Global Mission initiative, which calls on all believers to be active participants in spreading the gospel. Additionally, the department strongly advocates for Total Membership Involvement (TMI), a movement that encourages every member of the church to participate in ministry and outreach, recognising that every individual has a role in evangelism and service.

Small Group Ministries and Care Groups
To foster deeper relationships and more effective service, the Personal Ministries Department has embraced small group ministries, also known as Care Groups. These groups provide an intimate setting where members can:

  • Get to know each other better: Building strong, supportive relationships within the church.
  • Serve better: Encouraging members to serve one another and the broader community.
  • Evangelise better: Empowering members to share their faith in personal and practical ways.
  • Support each other better: Offering emotional, spiritual, and practical support, both within the church and to the surrounding community.

These small groups are an essential part of the department’s strategy to ensure every member is engaged and actively contributing to the mission of the church.

Future Vision
The Personal Ministries Department holds to the hope expressed in Matthew 25:21, that all who enter the race of faith will one day hear the words: "Well done, thou good and faithful servant... enter thou into the joy of the Lord." The department is committed to preparing every member of
Erdington Church for this moment by nurturing them in service, evangelism, and spiritual growth.

As the department continues its work, it remains dedicated to expanding its outreach, fostering deeper relationships within the church, and encouraging all members to take an active role in sharing the gospel and preparing for Christ’s return.

The Personal Ministries Department plays a pivotal role in coordinating the outreach and spiritual growth efforts of multiple ministries within Erdington Church. Through its dedication to evangelism, service, and discipleship, it seeks to ensure that every member is engaged in the work of God and is prepared for His second coming. The department will continue to advocate for Total Membership Involvement and foster small group ministries that strengthen the church community and its impact on the world.
