The SDA Church Erdington Children’s Ministries Department is dedicated to nurturing children aged 0–14 years into a loving relationship with Jesus Christ. The department’s mission is to help children experience Jesus' unconditional love and share this love with others, particularly within their communities. By guiding children to understand worship as a heartfelt response to God's grace, the ministry aims to foster a strong foundation for faith and Christian living from a young age.



Erdington Church believes that nurturing children in their spiritual journey is a collective effort involving the spiritual leadership of pastors, parents, leaders, and teachers. To ensure the most effective guidance, the department’s primary focus is on providing training for Children’s Ministries Leaders and Teachers, including parents and pastors, within the local church.

1. Grace-Oriented Ministries
All children are encouraged to experience Jesus’ unconditional love and find assurance in His acceptance and forgiveness. The department aims to nurture faith development by encouraging children to make personal commitments to Christ, fostering a deep connection to their beliefs and the church community.

2. Inclusive Ministries
The department values inclusivity, welcoming children and volunteers of all backgrounds, including different races, languages, genders, abilities, and socio-economic statuses. Every child and volunteer is valued and included in the church’s ministry work, ensuring that diversity is celebrated and everyone feels a sense of belonging.

3. Cooperative Ministries
Erdington Children’s Ministries Department works collaboratively with other ministries, such as Family Ministries, Sabbath School, and Stewardship, to provide a comprehensive approach to spiritual growth. This cooperation is particularly focused on helping parents foster and develop their children's faith through various shared programmes and activities.

4. Safe Ministries
Safety is a paramount concern within the Erdington Children’s Ministries Department. Churches are encouraged to adopt safeguards to protect children from physical, sexual, emotional, and spiritual abuse. Volunteer selection processes prioritise individuals with strong spiritual and moral character to ensure a safe and nurturing environment. Additionally, steps are taken to minimise the church’s liability, promoting accountability and trust within the ministry.
