The Sabbath School department is led by an elected member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, Erdington, and is required to be a member of the Church Board. The team is made up of the Superintendent and five other personnel, and together they coordinate the adult class. We are very fortunate to have committed members who also regularly support the Sabbath School team on a weekly basis.
The Sabbath School takes place every Sabbath morning at Erdington from 09:45 to 11:13. This gives us a full hour for the lesson discussion, and although we are a small congregation, you can be sure that it is a place where people are free to deliver their thoughts and ask questions, which makes the atmosphere vibrant and Spirit-led.
Each teacher is encouraged to attend the North England Conference (NEC) Sabbath School training that is put on annually, to keep themselves updated, and they are taught to facilitate the lessons to encourage greater participation so that no one will be left out. We frequently use PowerPoint presentations in conjunction with discussion to use as many learning styles as possible to aid understanding and increase Bible knowledge. Our aim is that all who attend Sabbath School will be drawn closer to the Saviour, to build their faith, and to encourage practical application of biblical principles for today’s world. Our objectives remain as the NEC and General Conference (GC) of the church: the Study of God’s Word, to maintain fellowship, be involved in world Mission and Community Outreach. We use a mixture of small groups and lesson discussion facilitation from the front desk, so all are welcome to join our Sabbath School. You will get a warm welcome, and you will certainly get a blessing as we follow the GC and NEC Motto:
I WILL GO… TEACH… MAKE DISCIPLES.
Matt 28:19-20. We look forward to welcoming you to our next Sabbath School.
God Bless.
